Alexis' Tango Bio

No, I don't usually talk about myself in the third person. But that seems to be the standard for bios.

Alexis believes that great dance is built on musicality, partner connection, and fundamental movement technique. Dancing Tango since 2002, he first became known as an original and creative dancer of Tango Nuevo, but later also developed a deeply intimate style in close embrace. The first teachers to strongly influence Alexis were Robin Thomas and Mario Consiglieri, and later Silvina Vals. While he has learned from numerous other teachers in Buenos Aires and the U.S., the biggest influence on his dance comes from the many great followers he has danced with.

Alexis began teaching weekly classes in New York City in 2007, with former partner Vanja Modzelewski. He began traveling in 2010, teaching workshops in the northeast and later around the country. In 2012 he started teaching solo, and with outstanding dancers like Kimberly Han, Jenna Rohrbacher, Rebecca Rorick Smith, and Aja Fenn. In August 2021 he started teaching regular weekly classes with Michelle Lamb.
