As we improve our Tango skills, it's easy to fall into rhythmic patterns. But quick-quick-slow is a trap! Learn how to escape this diabolical rut by using the music to add beats to - or steal them from - your turns.

Workshop, part 1
Intermediate & Advanced, with Aja

This workshop will address the two most basic topics in Tango, in depth. This material will be equally useful and challenging for leaders and followers. You should be at least at an intermediate level, but even advanced dancers will benefit.

These "secrets" are not at all secret in Buenos Aires, yet these commonly practiced techniques are all but unknown in the USA. Learn a totally new way to walk, and how and when to use it. The tricky part is doing it with a partner, and to music, so we will work on that extensively.

Intermediate & Advanced, with Aja

Take your connection to the next level by leading more clearly and following more precisely in your turns. Learn to use subtle cues for speed, angle, and hip freedom ("open" vs. "close") that can change a turn from a quick and punchy Biagi pivot to a languorous Di Sarli swirl.

Q&A and drills at Cafe Dominguez Practica

I will lead technique drills for 30 minutes. For the next hour after that, I'll be doing Q&A for everyone at the practica. Come with your questions, or problems with your dance, and we'll work on fixing them!

Note that Aja and Masha will be teaching an advanced beginners class before the practica from 6-7PM. The practica starts at 7.
